
Ericka Roberts, Clinical Counseling Graduate Level Intern| Ericka is passionate about being a bridge to help adolescents, adults, and couples find serenity and hope through challenging times. She guides her client in embracing their strengths and self-awareness as a foundation to build upon. Ericka is known for her warmth, compassion, and encouragement. Her ability to listen to her clients creates a safe, healing space for growth. Her approach to counseling is grounded in fostering a relationship based on trust, compassion, and understanding. As Ericka has worked through her own story, she believes that “authentic connection and intimacy are the catalysts and pathways for healing pain and that we are all hardwired for connection. “Our pain happens in relationships with others, therefore, our ability to heal is in the context of relationships with oneself and others.”
Education and Expertise
Ericka utilizes an integrative approach to clinical counseling. She views healing through a holistic lens and empowers her clients to recognize their ability to heal. Ericka’s clinical concentration focuses on integrating the psychophysiology of trauma, and attachment-based approaches, using a variety of therapeutic modalities such as somatic body experiencing, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, polyvagal, radical forgiveness, and mindful-based therapies. Ericka treats problems such as social and familial and marriage relationship issues, trauma, sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, panic, depression, emotional dysregulation, anger, and substance abuse.
Ericka is completing a clinical practicum and internship through Palm Beach Atlantic University with her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in trauma therapy. Ericka currently leads psychoeducational groups for psychiatric and chemical recovery clients at a Behavioral Health Hospital in Winter Park. Her group therapy classes focus on mindful-based interventions to improve awareness, and coping skills and reduce stress. She holds a master-level yoga certification in yoga therapy (E-CYT 500) and has offered therapeutic services for adults and children for nearly two decades throughout Central Florida. She holds a certification as a Natural Health Practitioner (CNHP) and is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). She is inspired by Gottman, Satir, and Brown’s approaches to healing relationships, and most importantly – the relationship with ourselves.
