Kim Reid, MS, Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern| Kim is committed to building trust with her clients through a collaborative client/therapist relationship. Key elements of her commitment to that relationship include intentionality, empathy, unconditional acceptance, accomplished counseling skills, and, most importantly, the ability to listen well. Her mantra is Faith over Fear, and she finds no greater joy than to help others find the ability to grow and stand firm, whether it be in the midst of adversity or great prosperity. Kim finds her calling in partnering with individuals to seek healing; find hope, strength, and resilience; and discover potential and purpose in life. In her years of counseling experience, she has worked with couples, adults, adolescents, children, and families. Kim’s experience as a counselor has also been influenced by her self-work in the areas of anxiety and post-partum depression. Kim is a mother of four grown children, has been married to her husband for 30 years, and knows the value of sunshine as a native Floridian. She enjoys reading, walking, days at the beach, and spending time with her family.
Education and Expertise
Kim holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Previously, Kim earned her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the University of Central Florida. She specializes in working with children and families with her training and concentration of studies in Play Therapy at PBA. Kim has studied and done work in the areas of relationship counseling (couples and families), grief, anxiety and depression, ADHD, attachment, parenting, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), expressive therapy, and trauma-focused hypnotherapy. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Play Therapy.
