Mayeling Angelastro, MA, LMHC| Maye is a skilled, compassionate, empathetic, bilingual (Spanish) and solutions-oriented licensed mental health counselor dedicated to maximizing an individual’s potential. Using her expertise in behavioral and positive psychology she coaches and counsels individuals on the practical ways to achieve and maintain transformation, expansion, and consistent growth. Maye is an effective motivator and communicator with inherent ability to manage all types of personalities, diffuse stressful situations, and proactively resolve issues. Maye is known for her innate ability to establish rapport quickly, build trust, and relate to individuals on all levels. When Maye isn’t changing lives, you can find her enjoying life as a wife and mother of two young children in Windermere, FL. Education and Expertise
Maye received a Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity International University and a Bachelor’s of Science from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Maye has years of experience in children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral disturbances. After graduating with her Master’s degree in mental health counseling, Maye spent a few years working with children and families in Florida’s school districts and Denver Children Advocacy Center as an outpatient therapist.
Maye has a passion for Infant and Early Childhood Mental health. She is a member of the Florida Infant Mental Health Association. She obtained a certification on Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), which is an intervention for children and their parents or caregivers who have experienced at least one form of trauma (e.g. maltreatment, the sudden death or traumatic death of someone close, a serious accident, sexual abuse, exposure to domestic violence) and are presenting with different problems as a result. As a child and family therapist at Denver Children Advocacy Center, Maye became experienced with children from ages 0-18 victims of trauma. Maye also worked with the prevention program assisting schools and head start programs in education to prevent child abuse. In this program, Maye served as a family liaison specialist helping parents deal with any life challenges such as depression, anxiety and relationship issues.
Maye uses her positive and empathetic personality to connect with children, individuals and couples. Maye’s innate ability to connect arises from her own experience with her divorce, postpartum depression and anxiety and poor self esteem. Throughout these challenges, Maye has learned how to embrace the process and heal. Therefore obtaining and maintaining healthy relationships as well as self confidence! She also reveals her personal experience in the rewarding struggles of parenting, and the challenges of balancing a healthy life between career, motherhood and family.
