Maria is a dedicated graduate level counseling intern striving to create a safe space for individuals facing life’s difficulties. Maria has experience providing individual and group counseling, focusing on evidence-based interventions to support adolescents and families in managing their mental health challenges. She is passionate about helping individuals on their journey to healing, focusing on person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
As a student clinician, Maria is skilled in conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans to address client’s unique needs, all while maintaining ethical guidelines and ensuring confidentiality and an environment full of compassion and respect. Maria is a Cuban-American Florida native and enjoys time with loved ones, photography, and finding creative ways to self-care.
EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE
Maria is completing her internship for her master’s in counseling psychology from Florida International University and has training in Youth Mental Health First Aid, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
