Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to keep things in our lives simply because they’ve always been there. Relationships, routines, expectations, even versions of ourselves. We don’t always stop to ask whether they still fit; we just keep carrying them. And I’m realizing that getting older has made me much more intentional about that. I’m paying closer attention to what feels good, what feels forced, where I feel like myself, and where I don’t. I used to think letting go meant something had gone wrong, but I don’t think that anymore. Sometimes nothing happened. No big fallout. No dramatic ending. You simply grew, and something that once fit your life doesn’t fit the same way anymore. So over coffee this month, I’m asking myself a question that might be worth asking yourself too: What am I still carrying because I truly want it in my life, and what am I carrying simply because I always have? Maybe growth isn’t always about becoming more. Maybe sometimes it’s having the courage to make room.
