Maria is a dedicated graduate level counseling intern striving to create a safe space for individuals facing life’s difficulties. Maria has experience providing individual and group counseling, focusing on evidence-based interventions to support adolescents and families in managing their mental health challenges. She is passionate about helping individuals on their journey to healing, focusing on person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches. 

As a clinician, Maria is skilled in conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans to address client’s unique needs, all while maintaining ethical guidelines and ensuring confidentiality and an environment full of compassion and respect. Maria is a Cuban-American Florida native and enjoys time with loved ones, photography, and finding creative ways to self-care. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE

Maria recently graduated with her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University, bringing both passion and fresh perspective to her work. She has specialized training in Youth Mental Health First Aid, the Gottman Method for couples therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), giving her a versatile toolkit to support clients in meaningful ways. Maria is especially committed to creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where people feel truly seen and understood. Her genuine care and practical skills come together to help individuals, couples, and families find healthier ways to cope, communicate, and thrive.
